Alex and Mike’s Earth to Table Farm wedding was on a gorgeous July day.  This couple were high school sweethearts who met when they were counsellors at summer camp many years ago.  A fateful trip in a canoe, led to a romance that has stood the test of time.  They finally tied the knot at The Earth to Table Farm in Hamilton and it was a wonderful day.

As a wedding photographer, I’m always looking at the forecast and coming up with contingency plans in case it rains.  Leading up to Alex and Mike’s wedding, the forecast was calling for rain and I was getting a little nervous.  We had a plan to take photos in and around the barn if it rained and I also brought a clear umbrella with me just in case.   So, I was prepared, and it would have been okay, but I was hoping for good weather.

On the big day, we lucked out and the rain seemed to bypass Hamilton.  There was not a cloud in the sky!   This worked out perfectly because the grounds of the Earth to Table Farm are so lovely and it’s nice to take some outdoor portraits there.  Also, Alex and Mike were able to have their ceremony outdoors in a beautiful setting.

I’ve been to The Farm several times and it’s one of my favourite wedding venues.  One thing that I love about it is that you can have your ceremony, photos and reception there.  This makes the day flow so much better and it’s so much easier for everyone to just stay in one place.  When you reduce the amount of travel time on your wedding day, you reduce the stress level by a lot!

I also love the food at The Farm.  A lot of the food is grown by them and it’s so fresh and well prepared.  Every time I’ve been there, I’ve been impressed by the food.

I have a few go-to spots for taking photos at the Earth to Table Farm.  I love the fields behind the farm with the tall grass and gravel pathway.  I also love taking photos at the rustic wooden fence beside the big barn.  For family photos, I like to find a shady spot and there’s a nice patch of shade beside the barn which is easily accessible for everyone.    I have a few other spots that I like, but I don’t want spill all my secrets;)

I loved Alex’s choice of shoes.. they were pretty and comfortable.

At the beginning of the day it was raining, but luckily it didn’t last long.

Alex and Mike exchanged gifts and some sweet notes before the wedding.  I love when couples do this, and it’s a great opportunity for photos…

It’s always fun to personalize your outfit someway.  Mike’s star wars inspired cufflinks were pretty cute.

There’s a beautifully decorated bridal suite at the Farm which is the perfect place to relax before your ceremony.

The weather was amazing for their outdoor ceremony.   This is the perfect spot for an outdoor wedding.  The view is beautiful and the arbour frames the couple so nicely.

   

There was no rain, but there was a lot of wind!   The wind can make the photos a lot better though as you can see below.  I love how it picked up the ribbons on Alex’s bouquet.

   

The inside of the barn at The Farm is ideal for photography with its big windows and light coloured interior.

 

 

It was a pleasure to be there for Alex and Mike’s big day!  I wish them many years of happiness!
