Hi, I’m Nicole, a Toronto wedding photographer based in Mississauga, sharing elegant weddings, venue inspiration, and helpful planning tips for couples across the GTA.
Tommasina and Chris’ Ce Soir wedding in Oakville was intimate, relaxed, and completely true to who they are as a couple.
They celebrated with around 60 of their closest family and friends at Ce Soir Brasserie + Bar in downtown Oakville, choosing a wedding day centred around great food, meaningful moments, and simply enjoying time with the people they love most.
One of the things I loved most about their day was how easy and unhurried it felt. With both the ceremony and reception taking place at Ce Soir, there was no need to rush between multiple locations. We had time for portraits nearby, time with family and friends, and plenty of room in the timeline for the day to unfold naturally.
That relaxed approach is something I really value in my wedding photography, because the best photographs often happen when couples have enough space in their timeline to actually enjoy the day.
Smaller restaurant weddings like this have such a special atmosphere. They feel personal and warm, while still giving couples a beautiful setting for dinner, speeches, dancing, and all the moments in between.
One of my favourite things about a Ce Soir wedding is the location.
Ce Soir sits right on Lakeshore Road in the heart of downtown Oakville, which gives couples a beautiful mix of an intimate restaurant setting and plenty of nearby options for portraits. The restaurant itself has exposed brick, warm finishes and dedicated event spaces, including a second floor that can be used for private weddings and receptions.
For Tommasina and Chris, having their ceremony and reception in one place made the whole day feel easy.
There wasn’t a lot of rushing from one location to another. Instead, we were able to build their photography timeline around spending time together, taking portraits nearby and actually enjoying the day.
And selfishly, as a photographer, I love this part of downtown Oakville. You can get that lively downtown feeling and then, just a short distance away, find beautiful greenery and gardens for portraits. It gives a wedding gallery so much variety without requiring the couple to disappear for hours.

Tommasina and Chris told me from the beginning that being in front of the camera wasn’t exactly their favourite thing.
They wanted their wedding photos to feel natural, candid and relaxed, with less emphasis on stiff posing.
I love when couples tell me this because you absolutely do not need to know what to do in front of the camera before your wedding day. That’s part of my job. I’ll give you direction when you need it, while still leaving plenty of room for things to feel natural.
We started their photography with a first look before the ceremony, followed by bride and groom portraits, wedding party photos and immediate family photos.
Doing these photographs earlier meant that once the ceremony was over, Tommasina and Chris could spend much more of cocktail hour with the people they had invited instead of disappearing for a giant photo session.
For an intimate wedding especially, I think that matters.
When you invite 60 people to celebrate with you, you actually want to be there with them.
Their ceremony took place right at Ce Soir, keeping everything beautifully contained in one location.
Afterward, we photographed some extended family portraits before Tommasina and Chris had a chance to freshen up and join cocktail hour.
The entire day had this lovely, unhurried feeling to it.
There was time for portraits, but there was also time built in to simply be present.
And that suited these two perfectly.
What they were looking forward to most wasn’t one elaborate wedding detail. It was having both of their families and all of their friends together in the same place.
That became the heart of the day.
If food is high on your wedding priority list, a restaurant wedding just makes so much sense.
Ce Soir focuses on modern French-inspired cuisine, with seafood, prime meats, house-made pasta, cocktails and wine as part of its regular dining experience.
But beyond the food, I love the atmosphere of this venue for an intimate wedding.
It feels elevated without feeling enormous.
For a couple who doesn’t want a traditional ballroom wedding with hundreds of guests, a restaurant celebration can feel much more personal. Everyone is gathered together, dinner becomes part of the experience, and the space naturally encourages conversation and connection.
That was such a good fit for Tommasina and Chris.
Their wedding felt like a beautiful dinner party that happened to include getting married, which is a pretty great combination.
Tommasina and Chris’ September wedding was proof that a meaningful wedding does not have to be a massive production.
Their intimate Ce Soir wedding in downtown Oakville felt warm, relaxed and completely personal to them.
And I think that is what makes these smaller wedding days so memorable.
You aren’t trying to fill a huge space or rush through a packed schedule.
You get to actually experience it.
And that is pretty sweet.
