Spring Doctor’s House Wedding – Emily + Jared

I was so excited to photograph Emily and Jared’s spring wedding at the Doctor’s house. I met Emily about a year ago through one of her bridesmaids, Kelsey.  Kelsey had booked me already for her wedding, which will be happening this summer.   Luckily, Kelsey referred me to Emily and it was so nice to see two of them at Emily’s wedding.

Emily and Jared met about three years ago online and knew it was something special right away. These two are both very smart and hardworking people; Emily is a doctor and Jared is an electrical engineer.

When I first spoke to Emily, she told me that she had a fondness for historical shows like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton and dreamed of having a wedding inspired by this period. The Doctor’s House fit perfectly with the vision that Emily had.  It also had everything in one location, with the chapel and reception room all in one setting.

As we got closer to the wedding date, I made sure to keep in touch with Emily and the wedding planners Jessy and Laurence from Stori Events. Before Emily’s wedding, we had a final phone call to discuss the plan for the photography.   I always want to know if the couple has any special requests for the photos.  Emily and Jared mentioned that they liked the gazebo at the back of the property and would like some photos there.  On their wedding day, we took some photos in the gazebo and they are some of my favourites.

Leading up to the wedding, I kept checking the weather forecast and luckily the weather ended up being perfect. It was a slightly cool spring day with a little bit of cloud cover. I love the clouds because it helps to diffuse the sunlight and makes the shadows less harsh on people. On the morning of the wedding, I arrived at the Doctor’s house early to scope out the property and say hello to everyone. It was clear that everyone was really excited to be there for Emily and Jared’s wedding.

After Emily and Jared finished getting ready, they had a first look on the porch of one of the cottages on the property. Their first look was so heartwarming as they looked so happy when they saw each other.  We proceeded to take photos around the property in various places. The gardens at the Doctor’s house are beautiful, so there were lots of nice locations around the property.

We completed the photo portion of the day and Emily and Jared took a break before their ceremony. They had a lovely ceremony in the chapel on the property. The flower girl was so adorable, and it seemed like she was in awe of the beautiful bride. She kept looking at Emily and following her around everywhere.

This wedding was so joyful, romantic and colourful. The colour palette of light dusty blue, gray, white and pastel flowers looked amazing. Emily’s bridesmaids light blue satin dresses and the groomsmen’s gray and white outfits looked so nice with the colourful flowers.  At the reception, the table settings were so beautiful and unique.  The blue and white regency inspired dinner plates, and the blue glassware, looked so lovely against the white tablecloths.

I had a great time taking photos of Emily and Jared’s wedding and it was truly an honour to be there.  I could relive this day over and over again!   There was so much beauty and happiness that I still smile when I think about it. Take a look at some of my favourite photos…
