Last summer, I took photos of quite a few families and this sweet family was such a pleasure to photograph.   I met Kiran and Bryan several years ago when I took some engagement photos of them at Cherry beach in Toronto.   They contacted me again recently to take some photos after they found out they were pregnant.

I have three kids of my own and I love babies, so I was really excited to take their maternity and newborn photos!  A few weeks after baby Liam was born, I went to their house and did a family session for them in the comfort of their own home.  I find it’s easier for a new mother to stay at home after having a newborn so I prefer to go to their house.   Being a new mom is tiring, so making it easy and low-stress for everyone is my priority.

When I got there, I scoped out their house for a few nice areas to take photos.  I prefer a neutral coloured room with lots of window light and  if that’s not possible, I always bring my flash so I can brighten things up but still make it look flattering and natural.      I try to get lots of variety in the photos because this period of time is so precious and I want the family to be able to remember these memories forever.

I had a great time with this sweet family and I’m looking forward to photographing more families soon.  Congratulations Kiran and Bryan!
